On Saturday 2 September my husband Chris Wainwright along with my daughter Karen, her husband Reuben and his son Sol set out to tackle the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. They all reached the top of the first peak Pen-y-Ghent and then Chris said he didn’t feel well and needed a sit down. He never got back up…

They were extremely fortunate to have a team of Critical Care Team nurses from Manchester Royal Infirmary walking behind them who were incredible but, after more than forty minutes of rotating CPR, the arrival of an air ambulance, defibrillation and three bags of adrenaline, they had to concede it wasn’t having any effect. They began as a group of four and returned as three.

The tidal wave of messages of condolence, support and love from all over the world has been overwhelming and most of all the wonderful letters and emails from the many people whose lives have been touched and changed by knowing Chris. Thank you all.

Next year on Sunday 6th May 2018 Karen, Reuben and Sol along with a group of friends will return to the Yorkshire 3 peaks to raise money for the Air Ambulance and Cave Rescue Organisation.

Please do not send flowers instead visit the Just Giving Page to raise funds for these two organisations – volunteers who tried to save Chris’s life.
